Wedding Design {Lori + Nathan}

Oh, man! Where do I begin...It was SO fun helping design this wedding and there were many reasons for that. Number one being that this was my best friend's wedding!! And, I was the matron of honor - hurray! And, I got to spend so much quality fun time with family and friends along the way - bonus!

Lori and Nathan put on an eclectic, colorful garden fiesta that played with vintage and modern elements - in turn, producing a totally unique wedding that reflected their fun-loving personalities. The San Antonio Botanical Garden provided the perfect setting for this magical day. This wedding turned out so beautifully that Style Me Pretty Texas featured it!

Katherine O'Brien Photography snapped these amazing photos.

Girls getting ready. Lori wore beautiful Kate Spade Clume wedges and a gorgeous Modern Trousseau gown from Unbridaled in Austin. Pretty make-up by Nisa Nicole Makeup Artistry.

The Creative Parasol designed the program fans and Eden's Echo arranged all the flowers.

Bouquets featured dahlias, ranunculus, billy balls, hypericum berries, scabiosa pods, snapdragon, hydrangeas, and roses to name a few. So pretty!

For favors, Lori and Nathan gave guests succulents from Nature's Herb Farm in baby jars. Table elements: flowers arranged by Eden's Echo in a mix of vintage vessels collected by the bride, groom, family, and friends; framed table numbers by The Creative Parasol; and green/cream and gold/cream chevron table runners sewn by a friend. Each table was a little different than the next!

This precious little teapot was found at Max's Haus Mercantile in New Braunfels.

Table assignments by The Creative Parasol. Lots of vintage goodies. g(room) and b(ride) letters from Anthropologie.

Lori and Nathan's ceremony overlooked the Lucile Halsell Conservatory at the Garden. Aisle poms made by your's truly!

Workin' my aisle pom magic. Billy balls, hypericum berries, and greenery for the groom's boutonniere. Pretty head table layout.

Gorgeous Lori in the arbor area. Bridesmaids with program fans. More table layout.

Dessert table with vintage cake stands, platters, and bowls. Pretty and delicious cakes by Ayon's Bakery. Brownies and cookies by friends and family.

Succulents all ready for guests to take!

Bride and bridesmaids crafted ribbon wands to send off the bride and groom! Here I am showing you how to wave it :).

What I love most about this wedding is how family, friends, and vendors came together to pull off a vision. The collaboration between those three parties not only makes a wedding look amazing, but makes it  meaningful to the couple.

Congratulations, Lori and Nathan! I love you guys! Thank you for including me in your special day.

Weekly Top Five!

{1} Michele + Luke - Green Wedding Shoes

Lots of creative ideas here. Love the brights mixed with pastels accented by pattern. Plus, shot by one of our favorite photographers, Paige Newton!

This one has a bit of hippy, fairy vibe. Prairie meets garden wedding. The green with pops of neon orange is pure genius. Dreamy.

Ok - purely posting this because it's an AUSTRIAN wedding. How cool is that?! Best setting imaginable.

DIY galore in a cute color palette. Simple, clean.

{5} Lynzie + Andrew - Style Me Pretty

I love everything about this wedding - the color palette, the couple, THE hat....everything! Looks like a super fun wedding to attend.

Happy Friday, everyone!!

Real Wedding {Victoria + Jared}

I'm very excited to announce that Bird Dog Wedding is now featuring *real local weddings*! This has been a dream of mine for some time. Luckily, there are tons of wonderful, talented vendors and awesome, creative weddings to showcase in the Austin area. I'll also feature some feedback from the bride on their oh-so-special day. So let's get started...

Couple: Victoria + Jared

Wedding Style: intimate, sweet, romantic, garden

--------------------------------------------------------------------

- favorite part of planning -
Since my husband and I live in Maryland, a huge perk of planning a wedding in Austin was getting to see my family in Texas more often. We had so much fun searching for the perfect venue and brainstorming what we wanted our wedding day to be like.

- favorite detail -
All of the flowers, done by Erin at Rosehip Flora, were simply fabulous! I did not get enough time to enjoy them the day of the wedding, and I wish I could have spent hours just gazing at them. I also loved the old family wedding photos that my mom and aunt collected, to display during the reception.

- most memorable wedding day moment -

After much discussion, we decided to do a 'first look' photo shoot before the ceremony, so that we could have more time to spend with our guests during the reception. I'll never forget the look of pure joy on Jared's face when he turned to see me that first time. Many of our friends and family were spying on us, so they were able to share in that special moment as well.

- favorite DIY project -
I'm quite proud of the program fans that I designed, printed, and assembled myself! The back of the program I designed to look like a succulent. The fans came in handy during the reception dance party, when everyone was hot and sweaty. I also loved the mini succulent plants that we put together for our escort cards and favors.

- favorite reception song -
For our cake cutting song, we played "Sweet Tooth" by David Rawlings Machine. The lyrics are perfect and adorable for cutting cake, and we got a kick out of playing something that was special just to us.

{CONGRATULATIONS}

- final advice to planning brides -
Make your wedding day whatever you want it to be, even if it's something not traditional. Also, be kind to yourself and don't take on too many projects in the days or weeks right before the wedding. It's okay to not accomplish everything on your DIY list!
